Project Manager

At Surna, we are passionate about providing world class systems and customer service.  Our team is looking for Project Managers that exemplify our high standards.

The Project Manager manages resource and scheduling activities associated with an assigned project with direct responsibility for project/job execution. Responsible for coordination with other business groups and subcontractors to ensure process compliance and fulfillment. Accountable for assigned projects’ scope of work, schedule, and budget.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for proper initiation of assigned projects following work instructions/processes
  • Advise clients of applicable equipment and services and assist in confirmation of a project plan to meet the client’s requirements
  • Ensure coordination of project requirements and facilitate project execution from time of hand over from sales through engineering, manufacturing, shipment, commissioning and ongoing support
  • Accountable for daily and weekly coordination of resources to ensure projects/agreements are prioritized properly to meet customer expectations and office goals/metrics
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and other internal and client updates following team standards
  • Plans and analyzes project schedules and parameters and sets procedures to accomplish system objectives
  • Communicates with customers and their representatives, including building owners, mechanical contractors, other trades, subcontractors, and field support staff
  • Responsible for timely submittal of invoices, managing project costs and maintaining accurate forecasted costs through job completion and close out
  • Coordinate purchase of all major equipment items required for project.  Ensure all subcontractors and/or other company groups understand the project and/or expectations and continually monitor the project for compliance
  • Responsible for tracking and documenting project changes and document control
  • Responsible for ensuring and tracking recognized revenue
  • Coordinates scheduling work with owners
  • Ensures that quality standards are maintained for assigned projects
  • Maintains customer satisfaction by investigating concerns, implementing corrective action, and communicating with customers and assigned staff
  • Establishes a professional relationship with the customer and interfaces constantly to maintain accurate status reports and project reviews
  • Obtains acceptance and timely sign-off of the project by the customer
  • Prepare all project close out documentation and issue all warranty letters and turnovers
  • Facilitate client efforts and requests while adhering to company responsiveness standards
  • Flexibility to work outside normal work hours/weekends, as required
  • Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job

Education and/or Experience:

Requires excellent communication skills, high level of organization and technical aptitude.  Requires strength in working with diverse personalities.  Minimum 2 years’ experience in construction or related project management. Advanced computer and accounting/math skills required.

Technical degree, electrical or mechanical contracting project management, engineering or technician experience a plus. Experience in HVAC, lighting, and other related agricultural systems a plus.  Equivalent combination of education and experience considered.

Drafter

At Surna, we are passionate about providing world class systems and customer service.  Our team is looking for a Drafter that exemplify our high standards.

Summary:

    Draft project specific permit-ready plan-sets under the direction of the project engineer.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Draft detailed project-specific hydronic cooling schematics. Given system designs by the project engineer, accurately and completely draft equipment layouts and piping details.
  • Apply knowledge of ANSI and ASME drafting standards and GD&T to ensure all Company drawings follow accepted best practices
  • Draft and maintain 2D and 3D part and assembly schematics, layouts, test procedures, and Bills of Material as directed.
  • Draft and maintain standard engineering document templates.
  • Support other engineering activities as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in CAD technology, Mechanical Drafting Design, or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years drafting experience
  • 2D and 3D CAD required (AutoDesk or Dassault products)
  • Construction background a plus

Physical/Sensory Demands:

  • Extensive computer work in an office environment
  • Occasional (infrequent) overnight travel. 10% max.
  • Occasional lifting up to 20 lbs.

Purchasing Agent

We are looking for a skilled Purchasing Agent to buy goods and services necessary for our business. You have the means and opportunity to raise our profits by making the most high-quality and cost-effective purchases. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and a commercial mindset. You should know how to evaluate different suppliers. Communication skills will help you negotiate effectively and maintain profitable relationships. The goal is to acquire supplies that are critical for the success of our business operations.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Manage raw material inventory levels, finished goods inventory levels; develop and manage all vendor relationships
  • Manage product costing; maintain relevant documents and communicate these changes throughout the organization
  • Purchase all general products; including complex, technical or specialized equipment, materials and services
  • Maintain effective internal and external relationships with suppliers, project managers, customers and related support organizations
  • Plan and estimate product lead times; advise sales and project management on product delivery and specific project requirements
  • Verifies purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to master list; clarifying unclear items; scheduling delivery.
  • Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price;
  • Obtains purchased items by placing orders to suppliers; monitoring and expediting orders.
  • Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered; resolves shipments in error with suppliers.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Proven experience as a purchasing agent or relevant role
  • Demonstrable experience in negotiating prices and terms and conditions
  • Knowledge of purchasing best practices
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and purchasing software
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with Quick Books
  • Outstanding organizational skills
